WOW - 2024 was a year to remember

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done, and continue to do for our community!

And with that said, we welcomed our BRAND new committee lead the PAH into 2024.

I want to thank everyone for their service on the committee these last 10 months, and thank you all for your dedication and hard work you have demonstrated for our community! Now while we have had some changes with our committee with Pup AJ, Sir Lore & Pony having to step off the committee for personal reasons. We have been joined by Pup Benji this year, who was nominated onto the committee by the current Management Committee, and we thank them for their assistance since coming on board.

Taking a moment to really appreciate that all of the work the committees do is Volunteer, these amazing people give up their weekends to help put on these events, and they honestly deserve a round of applause for their commitment!

Rounding out our BIG events of the year, the Annual Queensland Pup and Handler Competition, and this year was the BIGGEST we have ever had! This event was outstanding, from the competitors, attendance, venues, sponsorship, EVERYTHING. I could not have been prouder of our community at the end of this event.

Speaking from my own personal experience, I had never designed and organised an event like this, to this scale before, and in the months leading up to the weekend, I was beyond nervous about pulling it off. But, the event came together in the most spectacular way. We added more events, and changed up the format of the competition, bringing the first ever CABARET show to QPHC, and my goodness, it was a spectacle! From the performers, to the contestants, hosts and the volunteers who made this happen, THANK YOU!

We had TWO Handlers - Handler K, and Sir Twitch, and an astounding FIVE Puppys, Pup Billie, Pup Boomer, Pup Bucky, BetapupBenji & Pup AJ all competing for Queensland Handler and Queensland Puppy 2024. A massive shoutout to Handler K & Pup Billie for taking out their respective titles for QPHC 2024! EVERY single competitor brought their best, and it showed on those stages. I am so proud to have produced this competition and honestly am so excited to bring QPHC 2025 to the stage next year!

It should be recognised that competitions do not occur without a TEAM of people behind it.

And with that, we have reached the end, as we come into the last month of 2024, I am excited to have two final events to close out the year, PUPMAS 2024 on December 15th and our first ever NEW YEARS MOSH on Sunday December 28th.

Tickets close on the 1st of December for Pupmas, and we can't wait to bring this annual event back again for another year. Celebrating everything that has been this year, recognising the amazing work of our community in awarding our Annual Awards of Presidents Paw & Rising Paw; and for this year we are excited to announce that we are bringing back the Community Recognition Titles.

These titles were created to recognise the outstanding efforts of members of our community, people who the management committee have voted to be recognised for their Leadership, Determination & Support of our community. The winners of these recognition titles will be awarded the title for 3 years, in which time they will be a familiar face at Mosh's and other events hosted by Q-PAH, and add an additional layer of support to our existing title holders, and community! Q-PAH Shows Strong at APHC 2023

The fifth annual Australian Pup & Handler Competition was held in this month in Perth/Boorloo and Queenslanders were there in force to show our support.

It was WA-PAH's first time hosting the prestigeous annual competition, and they really knocked it out of the park, showing that the Western pups can really bring it!

The festivities kicked off with a Meet & Sniff event on Friday evening, where Bears Perth opened their regular den to pups and handlers from across the country. Two Handlers and Four Pups stood up to tell the crowd who they were and why they wanted to take home the title.

Saturday kicked off with Walkies through the scenic Northbridge, followed up that evening with the Stage Competition , where our very own Pup Luca was crowned Australian Pup 2023. Bowser from WA was crowned Australian Handler 2023.

Sunday we wound down with a series of insighful Workshops and the traditional Victory Mosh .

Along with Pup Luca, Q-PAH would also like to offer huge congratulations to former Q-PAH President Skout, who became runner up Australian Handler 2023.

We'd also like to thank current Q-PAH President Sir Tigs for producing the competition, Q-PAH Secretary Pup Oxford for representing us on the judging panel, Queensland Handler 2003 Zeo for wearing the QPHC sash so proudly, and to all the many Queenslanders who made the journey to show their support.

Santa Paws Is Coming

Things are well and truly heating up in the Sunshine state, and that can only mean Santa Paws will soon be in town to treat all of the best Pups and Handlers of Q-PAH.

This year's Pupmas will be the biggest and best yet, with a games, a mosh, full catering and a gift for every single attendee from Santa Paws!

Best of all, we're having it at home! No long distance travel is required this year because Pupmas is at Sporties for the first time ever!

On December 10, Pups and Handlers will gather to spread the joy of the festive season, probably all over each other.

Entry to this exciting event is by pre-purchased ticket only, so make sure you get yours early.

Q-PAH's 2024 committee will soon be elected and you can be part of running this great club.

The Annual General Meeting of Q-PAH will be called early in 2024 and the call for volunteers to run our great club will soon go out. Volunteering to be on the management committee can be a rewarding and beneficial experience for several reasons:

Making a Difference: By joining the management committee, you have the opportunity to actively contribute to the betterment of your community. Your efforts can have a significant and positive impact on our club's goals and the Pup and Handler community it serves.
Personal Growth: Serving on the management committee can be a great way to develop your leadership and decision-making skills. It provides a chance to take on responsibilities and challenges that you might not encounter in your day-to-day life.
Networking: You'll have the opportunity to meet and work with people who share your interests and values. This can lead to valuable connections and friendships, as well as opportunities for collaboration in the future.
Learning Opportunities: Q-PAH deals with complex issues, such as fundraising, financial management, event management and program development. Serving on the management committee can be a valuable learning experience, allowing you to gain insights into these areas and develop new skills.

Keeping Everyone Safe

Q-PAH has adopted a new Conduct, Consent & Community Protection Policy and Reporting Framework.

At Q-PAH, we want to be sure that our members and attendees always feel safe and sucure in our spaces. We also want to be sure that the public feels safe around Pups and Handlers. As such, the management committee recently passed a new by-law called the Conduct, Consent & Community Protection Policy. Along with this policy is a framework to allow people to raise concerns, and for the management committe to track and act on those concerns.

What's the policy about?

You can read the full Conduct, Consent & Community Protection Policy here . It is about the standards of behaviour we expect from our members and attendees, and what can be done if those stanards aren't met.

What's the reprting about?

Along with the policy, we've created an Incident Report Form . You can use the form to tell us about concerning behaviour in our spaces, either in person or online. But you can also use it to report any incident at all which concerns you, whether it's a behavoral issue or something else like an injury or illness at a Q-PAH event, or a potential physical hazard you've spotted.

What happens when a report is made?

When you submit an Incident Report, the management committee will keep a permanent record. This can be valuable for us to refer back to. It is the nature of volunteer committees that members change often, so without good record keeping, the management committee can't always know about problems from the past.

If the incident requires immediate attention, Q-PAH may investigate and carry out appropriate actions immediately. In other cases, building a collection of records of repeated incidents can help to find and fix systemic issues or serial problems.

In cases where a crime has been commited, we may make copy the incident report available to Queensland Police Service.

Can reports be made anonymously?

Yes. You don't have to give your name or any contact information to report an incident. However it's often helpful if we can contact people if we need follow-up information.

After a well-fought battle, we have crowned our 2023 Queensland Handler and Queensland Pup

The fourth annual Queensland Pup & Handler Competition was carried out on 29 and 30 April. It was a great competition full of fun, laughter and surprises. Three competitiors took part in five rounds to impress a panel of esteemed judges.

Handler Zeo shined alone in his category, and easily met the pass mark to prove he's up to the task of leading our community. On the pup size, Luca just beat out Bucky to take the sash.

Five Minutes With... Skout

This month's Five Minutes With article features Q-PAH founding President, Skout, who tells us about how he found his pup self.

From boy to puppy the gentle scratch on the back of the head pulling you into the moment with not a concern in the world… curled up in a bean bag with the gentle touch of the leather harness against your skin and the puppy collar that had helped you drop to that euphoric feeling of being free, the relaxation that comes from being in puppy headspace and exploring your world from a very playful view; where being on all fours adds to the headspace of being free. The puppy headspace is gentle, relaxing, fun, exciting, in fact it is anything that the pup wants it to be that suits their persona.

In my experience identifying as a puppy was not always accepted by the community, and at times in the earlier days you were seen to be different and was very much on the outer fringes. The contemporary puppy emerged from the leather BDSM lifestyle/community, where submissive boys were forced to be a dog or slave dog and as with everything, there are those that enjoyed this and being able to explore puppy headspace that pleases their Master or Mistress, and this started what we now know as pup play.

When I first entered the leather community in the late 90’s pup play was not something that was seen, there were dog slaves. The hoods back then were very BDSM like and not as individualized as they are now… just like a T-model ford, except you could get black or canvas brown.

I was a boy and had a Master and I was trained to be a boy, As I journeyed through the Sydney leather community as part of my training, I delivered workshops on boys and the different persona boys had, including the brat… Most of my interactions occurred in Sydney. I found love and moved away from the leather community. I handed back my collar and embarked on a new adventure, that ended up going full circle, driving me back home to my beloved leather community, though in Brisbane which was different to many of the rituals of the days of my earlier youth in Sydney. BootCo brought for me a new hope, as Pup Play was now being accepted, and I was drawn through my bratty self and puppy emerged.

In 2007 Matthew and I were preparing to attend Mardi Gras and had traveled down from Port Macquarie where we ventured into the Iconic Sax Fetish where Jeff Napier fitted us with a harness, as I was trying on the Chicago cross Harness, Jess said, no you’re more a bull dog harness and at this point my first Bull dog Harness was purchased and was the first time that I saw a puppy hood on display. It wasn’t until late 2012 that this style hood was purchased for me from Sax Fetish as a Christmas gift.

I spent most of 2011 exploring what pup play was for me after it was suggested by some leather folk that I was more puppy like then boy, so I spent time researching (the limited research that was available at the times, as there was really no one I knew that I could speak with.) In Australia there was at the time Sirius Pack that I connected with who helped the puppy to emerge. But it wasn’t until the first pup play workshop run by BootCo Brisbane, present by pup Riot that I really found my paws. This was followed by the first themed pub night and MOSH space created by BootCo at The Sportsman Hotel, when I feel the current incarnation of pup play was truly born in Brisbane. While there were a couple of pups on the fetish scene, including at the Brisbane Sleaze ball.. pup play became more vibrant from the work and effort put in myself, Master Pierre Brand and pup Riot with the BootCo committee.

Q-PAH grew from the conjunction of a puppy social group and AMADA and stood under the banner of The BootCo Brisbane until 2017 when the club formally started the process of becoming independent and put an application in for incorporation which was granted by Fair Trade in May 2018.

My journey as a pup was somewhat at times isolating and lonely as I was living in Port Macquarie and being gay was a challenge in itself, however being guided by people in the community and heading to The Boot Co Brisbane I was very fortunate to meet Mst Pierre Brand and pup Riot. I learnt so much more about myself as I found my paws. Brisbane is where I learnt the joys and wonders of pup play. There were others that were instrumental in the early stages of me finding my paws, such as Cyll Duncan, Anthony Smith. In the latter stages of my journey others influenced me such as Wayne Nicol from L&D, Tigs (HCA), Darren Tracey and Twitch. I became the first State Title Holder in Australia to wear a pup hood and clearly identify as a puppy during my title year as Mr. Queensland Leather 2016.

QPAH started with 6 puppies and 3 handlers, while Q-PAH officially formed in 2015, puppy play was alive and well in Brisbane long before the idea of a PAH and puppies were socially meeting in 2012. Brisbane led the way of pup play before any formal social groups formed in the other states, in Australia. I am proud that I was part of the modern puppy revolution. Like with any changes in subcultures it starts with one who leads the others out of the shadows to show that safe spaces are important.

My journey finding my paws was life changing and allowed me to be the puppy I am today, while many see my public persona as boisterous and outgoing and at the extreme alphamatic, only a few get to see the private puppy, that truly gets to explore both the headspace, the fetish/kink and the sexual puppy.

What I love most is that I have had the privilege to explore puppy play with so many puppies as they too found their paws and watch as the community has grown from strength to strength… Being a puppy for me is more than a kink it’s a lifestyle that is as individualized as every other pup or handler (and everyone in between) within our diverse and inclusive community.

We Nailed Nationals

For the first time ever, Q-PAH hosted the Australian Pup & Handler Competition - and it was pawsome!

The Australian Pup & Handler Competition was started in 2017 by Pup Tycho, who had a vision of a national pup and handler competition. Although the first couple were held in Melbourne, the vision was always for the competition to travel around the country, hosted by a different club each year.

Queensland was first set to host in 2020, but with COVID-19 border closures, we had to wait an extra two years before we got our turn. This presented a number or challenges. Firstly, a change in our management committee between 2019 and 2022 meant that nobody in Q-PAH had been part of the running of APHC before. Usually, the president of the incoming host PAH will be part of the production team the year before, but our own Sir Tigs didn't have this advantage. Secondly, most of the tools and account used to run APHC had lapsed or become inaccessable with the lack of momentum. "In a lot of ways, we had to start from scratch." says Sir Tigs, who took on the role of Head Producer for the competition.

However it all came together, with a team of Q-PAH members joining forces with community elders from around the country to make the weekend a success. Between 7 - 9 October, Brisbane hosted the largest pup event our state had ever seen, with 8 competitors vying for the titles in front of a panel of 7 judges, and hundreds of pups and handlers attending 6 public events across the three days.

"Feedback from APHC has been overwhelmingly positivie," says Sir Tigs "and I couldn't be more proud of Q-PAH. All three of our competitiors did amazingly well, and the local producers and volunteers went above and beyond."

Ultimately Handler Stuart of NSW was named Australian Handler 2022 and Pup Jaxx of WA was named Australian Pup 2022. We congratulate them whole-heartedly, and look forward to what they'll do with their title year.

Five Minutes With... Master Brand

This month, Queensland Handler 2022 continues collecting stories for his "Five Minutes With..." series, to preserve and document the experiences of pups and Handlers in our community. Our contribution this time comes from Master Brand.

As a Master/Handler in this relationship, it is important to point out that I do not have a pup headspace. I do not even pretend to understand what that headspace would feel like, for me to talk about that headspace in not appropriate. I will leave that up to Pup Riot. I do however feel I have a natural ability to feel what a pup might need at a specific moment. How I could provide a space for a pup to find their paws, to travel on a journey of selfdiscovery. My role is to nurture them through that journey, hold them tight, and make sure they are safe during times when their headspace might be very deep, and they might be vulnerable.

I discovered the Pup scene in Chicago in 2009, while was taking part in IML 31 as Mr Australia and New Zealand Leather. One of my classmates, Daddy Alan, had a pup called Pup Nitro. We ended up spending a lot of time together during the competition. Pup Nitro would lay all Daddy Alan's leathers out on the bed each day, making sure every last detail is properly cared for and perfect. He would have a time schedule to help his Daddy during a gruelling week of competition events. There would be snacks, protein bars and plenty of drinks to keep his Daddy nourished.

Daddy Alan is unfortunately not with us any more. So I was incredibly fortunate to be able to talk to them about their D/s relationship, learning how it worked for them, what did not work, as well as how they negotiated play with others. I was totally in awe with the dedication, affection and care from his pup. I discovered that I had developed a deep yearning inside of me to also have a pup one day.

Back in Australia in late 2009, I was wearing arseless jeans, while standing in a crowded room at a fancy party in Sydney. Suddenly my eyes met with a guy on the opposite side of the room. He stood out from the crowd, with his flannel shirt, jeans and steel cap boots, still with a bit of mud on them. I was totally intrigued and walked over to ask his name. 'Pup' he replied, while I gave him an approving up and down glance. 'Suits you!' I replied, and walked away. It was 3 days later that it became clear that we both fell in love across a crowded room. After 13 years together, it is clear that we were meant for each other.

When we first started our relationship we immediately assumed our roles as Master and pup. As our relationship developed and grew stronger, we also developed this part of our bond. Early on there were a few gorgeous puppy habits that started totally organically, without any instigation from my part. My pup never sat on the couch; he was on a beanbag at my feet. He would wait for me to start eating before he would take his first bite. He would wait next to the bed, on the floor, until I got into bed. He would put his head on the bed, waiting for me to tap the bed, showing him it's time to jump in. Sometimes he would sleep at my feet.

We assumed this 24/7 Master/pup dynamic without really laying any specific ground rules, or being able to ask others for advice. There was simply no one that we knew in our community that had a similar relationship. One day an unpaid electricity bill rocked our boat. It was clear that we were not only Master and pup, but we had a functional life to look after.

We decided to redesign the dynamic, with many conversations and lots of ideas. We decided to adapt different levels of 'pupness' for him. He would also be able to let me know which level he was at. Without his collar he was free to ask me difficult questions, or tell me off for not paying the electricity bill. With his collar on, he was more submissive, and ready to serve. With his hood on, he was ready to go deeper into the pup headspace. This was a sign for me to make sure the space is safe and pup friendly.

Now many years later, having enjoyed multiple exciting experiences together, we are still Master and pup. We have learned many things; it is not always practical for a human pup to be on all fours, lay on a beanbag, or on the floor for extended periods of time. We have learned that human bodies have limitations. We are looking forward to learn more. By learning our dynamic has evolved even further, now blending to a point where it is not clearly defined.

It is simply:

Kodas donates QPHC Sashes

Qld Pup 2022 and Qld Handler 2022 introduce a new titleholder tradition to Q-PAH.

In May 2022, Q-PAH crowned our first Qld Pup titleholder in 3 years and our first Qld Handler titleholder in 4 years. It was a long wait, but well worth it for the result we got. In a well-fought contest between three pups and two handlers, Kodas and Scott emerged victorious.

Since the inception of the Queensland Pup & Handler Competition (QPHC) in 2018, Q-PAH has always bestowed upon the titleholders a keepsake trophy, and inscribed the names of the winners on the ceremonial collar and lead (thanks to Sax Fetish ).

This year's titleholders have added to those accolades, by making sashes for the titleholders to wear; improving their visibility as they represent our great club at community events.

Scott & Kodas Visit Sexpo

In July 2022, Australia's longest-running adult exhibition, Sexpo, returned to Brisbane for another year. Our 2022 titleholder pup and handler went along to represent our club and spread the message about the puppy play lifestyle.

Handler Scott and Pup Kodas have done a great job of representing Q-PAH to the wider community since they were titled at QPHC in May 2022 and their visit to Sexpo was no exception.

Sexpo promotes itself as "a celebration, a commemoration, a shame-free event and tribute to all thoughts, feelings, lifestyles and sexualities".

While in the end a scheduling conflict by the event organisers meant they couldn't present the workshop they'd initially intended to, they still spent the day interacting with the public and talking up the merits of Q-PAH. They even took part in a photo shoot for a kink magazine.

March With Us

A contingent of pups and handlers including our 2022 Pup & Handler titleholders will be waving the Q-PAH flag in the Brisbane Pride Festival Rally & March . We'd love to have you join us and show off your puppy pride. Register your interest here if you'd like to be part of our group and we'll keep you updated on where you need to be and when. There is no cost to march with us, but you must register your attendance as spaces are limited.

Mosh With Us

Our September mosh will move from our usual home at the Sportsman Hotel and actually be held in our stall at Brisbane Pride Fair Day . All your favouite mosh activities will be there including the mats, ball pit, games and all your puppy friends. There's no additional cost to attend, just grab your own ticket to Brisbane Pride Fair day, then come and find our stall (it will be the one covered in puppy pride flags!)

Volunteer With Us

Our pride stall is a big fundraiser for Q-PAH, with merchandise and drinks for sale all day. It's also our biggest opportunity of the year to educate the public about pup play and help to de-stigmatise our favourite past time. We need people to help out running the Q-PAH stall. If you're able to to so, please register below to work a shift on the stall.

Fun In The Sun: Q-PAH Does Disc Golf

They say few things excite a bio-doggo more than chasing a well-thrown frisbee. On Sunday, we took the pups of Q-PAH to the park to see if the same held true of them!

The rain held off just long enough to allow the pups and handlers of Q-PAH to enjoy a nice picnic in the park, followed by nine(ish) holes (or do they call them baskets?) of disc golf in Carindale.

Sure, we got a little lost going around the course. And sure, our K-Mart frisbees didn't have quite the impact that all the pro disc golfers around the rest of the park did. But we got out in the sunshine, did our best and had plenty of laughs.

Q-PAH endeavours to do active, outdoor events every few months. They're designed to be social gatherings a no or minimal cost. Keep an eye on our events page to find out when the next one is coming up. Or if there's an outdoor activity you think would be fun, let us know .

Five Minutes With... Vic Ogilvie

As part of his title legacy, Queensland Hander 2022 Scott has started a project called "Five Minutes With..." to help fill the gap in pup handling resources. His aim is collect thoughts and short stories about pup handling from leaders in the community, to provoke thought and inspire other handlers. His first contributor is president of Brisbane Leather Pride, Vic Ogilvie, who tells a beautiful story about meeting her pup Tigah.

I feel like I’ve led an amazing life and my journey has been filled with adventures, experiences and excitement. Being a member of the Kink community for over twenty years as enriched my life beyond measure.

I’ve haunted dungeons across Australia, Germany, America and in the UK. I’ve lived out fantasies, engaged with Kinksters of all kinds, created and led elaborate scenes, performed at huge Kink events, mentored others and created my own Leather family. So, one could easily assume I’ve seen it all!

That was until a beautiful handsome man walked into my life by the name of Pierre Brand. Through my strong connection and friendship with Pierre, who a year into our friendship met a gorgeous pup by the name of pup Riot, introduced me to the world of Master/pup dynamic.

At first it just blew my mind, I really did think I’d seen it all but clearly, I hadn’t. As their relationship grew, given we shared a house at the time, I was exposed more and more to the magical world of pup play. Meeting other pup’s and their Masters/Handlers, attending events and watching social support groups emerge for this unique fetish subculture within the subculture of Kink.

I officially joined QPAH a couple of years ago which gave me the opportunity to learn more from the diverse pups and Handlers that make up our Queensland scene. Because I identify as a Leather Dyke Dom I’m naturally drawn to wanting a pup, the playfulness of a pup and the love and nurturing of a pup. And that’s when I met Tigah who is just the most wonderful, cheeky, playful, kind girl pup anyone could wish to meet.

There she was, just pupping out all alone at Haven. I was the Mistress on shift that night so I watched her intensely to make sure she was ok. At first, I stood back as she crawled into the pup cage at Haven. She was so cute, scratching at the soft blankets inside her cage, puffing them up for comfort, tossing her soft play toy around in her own unique cheeky and playful way.

I moved closer, still watching and waiting for her Handler to appear. I was really quite perplexed in that moment, I couldn’t imagine a pup being alone without a Handler, vulnerable in their little world….. surely, she was not alone. My thoughts raced, was her Handler at the bar, maybe out having a smoke or in the bathroom. Where were they? But they never came!

When I realised Tigah was alone I walked over to the side of the cage and said in a gentle voice “hello puppy why are you all alone we can’t be having that’. Tigah lent her head against the side of the cage and let me scratch her through the wire. She then gestured her toy toward me as if to say please play with me. With this non-verbal consent I praised her telling her what a good pup she was and pulled at her toy still in her mouth and a gentle game of tug-a-war started.

Her excitement was infectious as she howled and bounced around the cage, waging her tail and wanting more interaction. I then said “do you trust me puppy” and with a tail wag and a bark she replied positively. I then asked her “would you like to come with me and play with some beautiful friends of mine, they’d love to meet you”. With that she headbutted the door of the cage open, picked up the end of her lead and gestured it into my hand. I lead Tigah across the dungeon to my Krave Kink family who were so excited to meet her and the games began. Toys were thrown, playful gestures exchanged, tricks performed and an outpouring of pats, scratches and cuddles surrounded this adorable pup. I will never forget this night because I sparked my absolute love of pups and all they have to offer.

Since that time, I have learnt so much about Tigah and the world of pup play. I have learnt more about my role of Handler and connected with other like-minded folk. Due to geographic restraints, Tigah and I have only had small interactions since we met but each time we connect our affection for each other is strong. I will be honoured to be Tigah’s protector Handler whenever I can for however long I can even if that is just in the background to watch and support her evolving pup journey.

I think back on the night I met Tigah often and it always brings a smile to my face. I also think about that pup all alone and what would have happened, if after all that time I stood and watched, a Handler would have shown up. The thought of that makes my blood boil, leaving a vulnerable pup in pup headspace alone. I was so ready to pull that Handler aside and give them a piece of my mind. But fortunately, I didn’t have to.

To me, if you step up as a Handler you step up to all aspects of responsibility and that means never leaving a potentially vulnerable pup alone particularly in a busy dungeon. At the very least, always find a minder that you trust so your pup can feel super safe to pup out to their hearts content even in your absence.

July saw the first Mosh with your new 2022-23 Management Committee, and it was fantastic to see everyone who attended this month. Let me start by giving a big warm welcome to our new committee who is hard at work planning events for the coming year to make this Q-PAH’s biggest and best year yet!

Welcoming Sir Tigs as your returning President. Pup Dior is here, helping our president with their presidential duties as Vice President. Pup Oxford is taking the reins in the position of Secretary, myself (Pup Bailee) joining the committee to handle the finances as Treasurer, and our FABULOUS General Committee Members, Zeo, QLD Handler 2022 Scott, Pup Bucky, Pup T-Bolt and Pony Foxx. We are so excited to be looking into the future of Q-PAH and oh do we have some treats for you!!!

July was amazing to see so many faces around the Bunker Bar. It was amazing to see some old faces and some new! With It was a great afternoon for all! With puppies rumbling, balls being thrown, and toys being squeaked!

I was able to run around and take some photos on the day **note, I am only learning, so I apologise for some blurry ones** ��

But go and check them out , and if you ever see me at an event with my camera just give me a WOOF and we can get some photos!

In some event news to share, we are excited to see the return of SLEAZEBALL Brisbane. One of Australia's best-loved dance parties for the "Leather and Fetish" community, returning on Saturday September 17th! So make sure you get your tickets , as it will be a night, you won’t forget!!

Brisbane Pride will be back with their Pride March & Fair Day on September 24th. Q-PAH will be marching alongside our brethren within the pride community through Fortitude Valley & down to New Farm Park to celebrate the day away with EVERYTHING Pride & LGBTQIA+. Tickets and information on Pride Fair Day will become available in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on our Socials for updates!

APHC is coming to Queensland!!! �� We are beyond excited to be hosting the return of the Australian Pups and Handlers Competition this October, and the planning team are deep in the bunker, planning the event to be the best we have ever seen! Keep an eye on the APHC Website, and Q-Pah socials for updates in the lead up to this fantastic event!

And finally, August Mosh has been booked for Sunday the 14th of August, at the Sportsmans Hotel. Return of the Sporties Mosh!!

Awroooo!!!

This is the first time since before COVID that we have done a mosh at The Sportsman Hotel. And my dog it was nice to be back there. For me, it very much had a “returning home” kind of feeling as sporties was the very first place I ever attended a mosh.

Because of the recent outbreak that affected most of the community, the attendance was smaller than normal. We had a few new puppies to welcome into our amazing community, however, and having a smaller attendance allowed them to relax, get down on the mosh mats and join in.

The number of activities that were available was absolutely awesome, Sir Tigs brought in a new chill-out zone, Jenga, bean-bag toss, rope toss, a heap of board and card games, and most amazingly THE BALLPIT IS BACK!!! Some pup (definitely wasn't me ��) threw all the balls out of the ball pit and chaos perused. The acting handler DJ may have not been impressed by this ��

The amazing bar staff (Ben) kept us hydrated and was really happy to chat with us all, and Sir Twitch even sent along pup treats - just like the old days!

All in all, even though the attendance was a bit smaller because of people being stuck in quarantine, it was an extremely successful and fun event for everyone.

Next up on the schedule is the return of the Queensland Pups and Handler competition. This competition hasn’t been run since 2019 because of COVID, and I’m extremely excited to see how all the constants go. My dog there are so many fun activities over 3 days of puppy fun!

There are only limited numbers of tickets available so get in now while you can, it's going to be an absolutely pawesome weekend!!

March 2022 - Mosh

First Mosh of 2022!

As we all know the start of the year was filled with COVID breakouts and floods, which sadly meant that our first mosh of the year was delayed. While we still had a great time at our BBQ in January and the Valentines Dinner and Walkies , puppies love to rumble and we’ve been eager to get back on the mats ever since. Last weekend, we finally got back to moshing and OH MY DOG it was worth the wait!

We started off with a presentation from Queensland Pup 2019 Whisper, along with Sir Tigs, who told us all about the upcoming QPHC competition (click here for more info) . They gave us some really good advice for anyone thinking about competing. We are all really grateful for their insights and advice and new entries have rolled in since the mosh. I’m so excited to see who wins it this year, it’s going to be a huge event!

Following the workshop, we were all able to get down to moshing! So many pups that we haven’t seen in ages were able to attend this time, it was so good to see everyone chilling, chatting and playing.

We even had new toys to play with! While our pup-sized bean bags were sadly missing this time thanks to the floods, Sir Tigs managed to find some mini ones which allowed us to play an old stable of QPAH moshes - stacking things on a pup to see how high you can get it before they all fall. And don’t worry - proper chill out bean bags will return next mosh!

It was also good to see so many pups on the mosh mats. And we even had a visit from Anubis ��

If you haven’t been along to a Q-PAH mosh before, definitely do so. Next month we’re returning to our old moshing ground, the Sportsman Hotel in Spring Hill (yay for a central location and air con!). Tickets are available now so be sure you join in the fun.

February 2022 - Valentines Dinner and Walkies

Thank you all for coming along to the February dinner and walkies. Was so nice to see so many pups and handlers out for dinner!

This one started with an announcement from Sir Tigs and the committee about the official launch of the Queensland Pups and Handler Competition 2022 (affectionately known as QPHC 2022). This is incredibly exciting news as it's the first QPHC since 2019! Who will be the Queensland Pup 2022 and who will be the Queensland Handler 2022? Nobody knows but my dog it is going to be exciting to see everyone compete and there are so many exciting events and things happening over those three days of the competition. I for one am super excited.

Besides the announcement of QPHC, this walkies was a heap of fun. We all had dinner and a show, the wonderful bar staff at Sporties served us drinks while the chefs cooked up a storm as we enjoyed the awesome entertainment hosted by Shanny T-Bone.

After we were all full and ready to work off the foods, we took a walk through Queen Street Mall, past some beautiful lights and across the Goodwill Bridge and on to Southbank. It was definitely a magical night, especially with all the lights, with so many passerbys waving at us and enjoying seeing all the pups out for their walkies.

January 2022 - BBQ and Games

First BBQ and Games of the year!

It was so nice to get outdoors and be social at our BBQ in the Park over the weekend. We almost thought that we may have had to find a plan B due to the miserable overcast weather we woke up to Saturday morning. However, we never should have feared as our fearless President, Sir Tig’s reassured us the weather would clear up and behave.

As we arrived at the park and set up, sure enough, Sir Tig’s was not wrong. The sun came out, the clouds parted and we got to enjoy a pawsome afternoon. Handler Deefa set to work firing up the Bbq and got stuck into getting lunch cooked for everyone.

After lunch, those pups and handlers who found some energy got up and played some games in the park while others sat around and caught up.

Once everyone was fed, hydrated and all worn out from the afternoon’s activities Sir Tig’s closed out the afternoon by letting everyone know that our next event will be at the Sportsman Hotel on Saturday 12th Feb. We will be having our Valentines dinner and walkies social event which the committee will also announce the dates and workshops for this years QPHC.

Pupmas 2021

Pupmas: It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Pupmas 2021 certainly was a special occasion.

Held at the adult playground Crystal Chateau, the tinsel and other Christmas decorations along with all the mats and furnishings, softened what could be considered an intimidating space to the uninitiated. Curious pups and Handlers explored what the space had to offer, but once everybody started mingling, chatting and playing, most of the kink gear faded into the background.

Following an Acknowledgement of Country and introduction from our President, Pupmas officially began with a rope workshop facilitated by our current Mr Queensland Leather - Lee Mollenhauer. After a safety demonstration - safety is key in all things kink! - the pups who felt comfortable doing so spent some time practising on themselves under the guiding hand of Lee and some of the more experienced rope enthusiasts. It was so great to see pups try it out and I reckon more than one left that day with something new to explore further.

After the workshop, there were some more social times before lunch, and then we were treated to a show by the fabulous Gaylene Tuckwood. Announcements came after along with the awards. Pup Nipper won the jar of treats for being the closest count. Handler Scott won the Green Paws Award for collecting the most recyclables. The President’s Paw was awarded to Pup Dume for his consistent service to the PAH, and the Rising Paw, which goes to a newcomer who has contributed a lot to the community, went to Pup DJ. The amazing Gaylene closed the announcements with another fantastic number.

Our second workshop of the day started after the awards, and we headed upstairs for the Handler Discussion Panel. Hosted by myself, Pup Oxford, we had some prominent community leaders discuss their experiences of being and engaging with Handlers. Special thanks to Handler Deefa, Pup Skout, Pandler Zeke and Handler Scott for sharing your wisdom with our Community.

Pupmas is one of our biggest events outside of QPHC. It is our last event of the year and provides a wonderful opportunity for our Community to come together and share some fun times before the year ends. Thank you to everyone who came along and made the event what it was, and we look forward to another great year in 2022.

Gear'd 2021 - Kodas’ Pawspective

Pup Oxford finally caught up with Kodas on his return from Gear’d which was held in Adelaide from Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st November. We got to discuss his experiences being a first-timer at Gear’d, as his English doesn’t translate from puppy too well.

Oxford: Can you use 5 words to describe your experience at Gear’d?

Kodas: WOOOOOOOOOOOOWZA! What. A. PAWESOME. Experience!

Oxford: What was something that you gained from this experience?

Kodas: This trip for me was more self-discovery and putting my paws out there to experience something different, experience a new angle and find out there are even more like-minded, pawesome pups, humans, and all in between! Even thoughts some of Australia was hotspots, I still got to meet some pawesome pups and humans from other parts of Queensland, South Australia and of course Western Australia.

Oxford: Being a gear in public pup, what positive experiences did you come up against during this event?

Kodas: As most would know – in public, Kodas is a gear pup. Kodas ALWAYS has his hood and collar on and is that pup who is conscious of who is around before his hood is removed. This adventure I em-barked on (see what I did there) gave me newfound confidence which has been slowly developing over many times, where I found comfort and support from many others to me enjoy my time at the events hoodless. Yes, you read that right HOODLESS!

I have always been careful on who has seen me without my hood. However, during the week I was in Adelaide, I had one of the most empowering conversations pre-event over some premium kibble and jitter juice one morning – with a very experienced older pup that I look up to, plus a few others in all walks of life, including someone in the same local professional industry as human. These conversations gave me a massive confidence boost and helped set the tone of the weekend for me. I would also like to do a special thanks to the cushion I was holding onto during these conversations – that feeling of protection always does help in unknown situations and helped me open up a bit more.

Oxford: Onto the Gear’d Event itself, what events did you attend?

Kodas: Over the 4 days of events, I attended the VIP – Meeting the Contestants, Gay Bingo (However not as good as Balls Out Bingo – Note to self, 77 strip does not mean STRIP like at Sporties….) plus more events such as question time, contestant talent, and of course the dance party! Some pawesome events by the Gear’d team!

South Australia Pups and Handlers held a munch on the Saturday afternoon. This was for pups and handlers of the community as some could not do an attend. It was a pawesome afternoon and getting to meet some pups not via social media was a pawesome feel.

Oxford: Taking a paw backwards and looking over the trip – how are you after it?

Kodas: When I take a paw back and look over this trip – I am exhilarated that I have come back with new confidence and a new outlook on who I am, how I have taken the time to develop and push myself to be the best I could ever be while representing our PAH and attending some pawesome events. I do recommend that you all take an opportunity to get to Gear’d as it is a fully inclusive event for our community, which is held in a beautiful city!

November Bark-E-Cue!

On Saturday, Q-PAH once again descended upon New Farm Park for our second BBQ of the year. It was a phenomenal time with amazing games, good food, lots of playtimes and of course fantastic company!

It was wonderful to get to see some familiar faces as well as meet a couple of new members. And I can now scratch wearing my hood in public during the day off my list. I have to admit, wearing my hood in such a public place for the first time made me very nervous. Seeing how comfortable everyone else was very encouraging and made it easier to try, and once I did it was so much fun - although it was very hot on such a warm day.

Being able to be a pup in such an open space has only been made possible by the openness and encouragement from other pups and Handlers. As someone who gets quite nervous being in social situations and doing new things, it was massive progress. I am very grateful to be a member of a community that takes such care to watch out for each other.

Q-PAH CAMP - HALLOWEEN THRILLS

Hello, pups, Handlers and everyone in between!

The threat of stormy weather didn’t hold us back as seven members headed out to Gordon Country for the third annual Q-PAH camp.

We arrived on Thursday and the race was on get set up before the rains hit - but we did it with time to spare and we spent a few days of relaxation out in the great outdoors with no mobile service.

On Friday, we took advantage of some clear skies to do screen printing, creating one-of-a-kind camp t-shirts, and on Saturday we all tried our hand at making damper over the fire. Aside from those semi-structured activities, the rest of the time was free to chat, explore around the campsite, and get to know each other better. It was also a great opportunity to catch up on some reading and indulge in guilt-free naps.

While the inclement weather might have put the kibosh on some more outrageous adventuring, we enjoyed some dazzling lightning displays and made the most of the weekend with lots of good food, a great fire, and plenty of amazing company. I’m also pretty sure that by the end of the weekend, Dume’s super positive exclamations of ‘It’s fine’ had rubbed off on everybody.

One of the best things about camping with a group is that you don’t necessarily need a lot of experience - there’s plenty of that among the group as a whole to go around. All you really need is a pitch-in attitude and some willingness to try new things. This was my first Q-PAH camp and I had such a great time, my tail is already wagging in excitement for the next one!

A shoutout to No Mercy Gear who supplied the t-shirts for the screen printing. A massive thank you to Zeke for his tireless efforts in making sure that this camp went smoothly and for the buckets of treats delivered to everyone’s tent on Halloween morning, and a thank you to all the attendees for making it such an enjoyable time.

Q-PAH Braves the Heat for Pride Festival 2021

It was a hot and muggy day when Brisbane’s Pride festival 2021 finally took place on 30 October, after being originally delayed by COVID concerns, but our pups and handlers soaked up the sunshine and sweated through the festivities!

A contingent of puppies took place in the rally and march, making their way through the streets of the Valley and New farm, with hoods and harnesses proudly on display, and waving the Q-PAH flag high.

At Fair Day, the Q-PAH stall was a crowd favourite with out cold drinks and shady drinks selling well and raising over $350 for the club.

On stage in the Adult Tent, Q-PAH’s own Sir Tigs and Pup Kodas talked to the crowd about pup play and why it’s great to come along to Q-PAH events. Let’s hope we see some new faces soon!

Return of the Mosh!

It was with great anticipation and pleasure that we held our first Mosh since the pandemic began in the first quarter of 2020. Since then we have faced many challenges including multiple lockdowns causing unfortunate but unavoidable cancellations, and government regulations that restricted our activities. As such, the Committee has worked extra hard to make sure the roadmap to our return was able to move forward under the best possible circumstances.

The afternoon opened with a Special General Meeting to introduce an updated Constitution and appoint an auditor. After that, we received a brief word from our President, Sir Tigs, and the formal festivities commenced with a consent workshop developed by the Education and Resources team and facilitated by yours truly, pup Oxford. A video of the workshop will be uploaded to the Education and Resources section of the website very soon.

Once the workshop finished, the moshing began and there were heaps of different activities to join in on. Ring toss, giant Jenga, a photo booth, and of course the mosh mats covered in squeaky toys and balls. Overseen by mosh supervisors ensuring COVID safe measures were effective, the pups had a great time playing on the mats with and without Handlers. The bean bags offered a great place to chill and enjoy a soft drink and snack from the volunteer-led bar, or to watch the games and mosh play in comfort.

Thanks to No Mercy Gear and Sax Fetish , we had two marvellous hampers full of goodies to give away - one as a lucky door prize and the other drawn by raffle. A massive congratulations must go to pup T-Bolt for winning the raffle, and Michael for taking away the door prize.

We have had some phenomenal feedback from some of the attendees. Pup Souda said they ‘really enjoy the workshop and moshing space’ and mentioned it was ‘easy to get to and large enough to accommodate lots of pups and peoples’. Pony, one of our much-loved pony players said ‘it was a bloody good time’. T-Bolt, attending his first mosh ever, also noted it was a ‘very relaxed atmosphere to just pup out’.

As for this pup, well, it was also my first mosh and I was really happy to have an opportunity to meet other pups and have a bit of a play, which included one of the most intense games of Jenga in all my days. I went home a very happy, content and sleepy puppy!

It is worth reminding everyone that it is not just pups and Handlers that can attend mosh. The mosh is open to everyone, and all pets and their trainers are welcome. The Committee is dedicated to ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for everyone to discover and explore themselves more fully, in an environment free from stigma and judgement.

We are already busy planning our next mosh for November, not to mention the other events that are happening - including a three day camp next month and a huge Pupmas in December. Q-PAH's Official Response to Brisbane Pride's QPS Stance

Q-PAH is proud to have taken part in the Brisbane Pride events since our incorporation. Pups and Handlers march in the Rally each year, pups can always be seen serving drinks behind the bar and the Q-PAH tent is a perennial favourite where everyone can pat a puppy and give out affectionate scritches. We're proud of our association with Pride, both the organisation and the broader idea of inclusivity encompased within it.

That said, Q-PAH does not agree with Brisbane Pride Committee's decision this year to forbid Queensland Police Service members from marching in uniform. We denounce that decision unreservedly.

Q-PAH wholeheartedly supports QPS members and their right to march in uniform. We acknowledge the huge amount of work they have done in recent years and decades to reach out to the queer community. And while we don't ignore or diminish the hurts caused to anyone in the past, we look to the future and the hope that police and the queer community can work well together for the safety of all.

Q-PAH invites any member of the police force to march with us, whether in uniform or not.

We have made this postion public as various members have requested a response from us, and even suggested we boycot the event. However, we feel that the interests of our members are best served by us still taking part in the festival. We also feel we can do more good by being present and campaigning for positive change, rather than by giving in to cancel culture.

Last weekend was the 30th Anniversary of BootCo held at Club 29, and it was a massive night for Q-PAH too.

Q-PAH was originally formed within BootCo, and established itself as a separate club in 2015. We are very proud of our roots in one of Australia's longest running leather clubs.

It was a proud night for Q-PAH, with two pups, Phoenix and Zephyr, competing in their hoods for the title of Queensland Leather Boy, and Handler Lee taking the title of Mr Queensland Leather.

And while QPAH was being spectacularly represented front and centre in the contest, we were also working energetically behind the scenes managing the cloak room, in one of our major fund-raisers for the year.

Teaming up for multiple shifts throughout the night, the pups raised pandemonium...and over $600 for the club.

A very special shout out to Rover who kept the whole venue entertained with his squeaky ball.

We are very grateful for all the volunteers who helped on the night, and who in general make it possible to do the things that we do. If you'd like to get more involved with the club, reach out on the socials and we can add you to our volunteer pool. Volunteering is a great way to meet pups and find your paws in community.

Also, don't forget our Mosh is next weekend - can't wait to see you all there. It's going to be passover.

The Q-PAH Annual Camp Approaches

Plans for the third Q-PAH Annual Camp have now been finalised and tickets are available.

Then Annual Camp has become one of the flagship events on the Q-PAH Calendar and our amazing VP Zeke is again heading this year's adventure to Goomburra, south of Brisbane.

The Annual Camp has always been a lot of fun, filled with adventure and activities and 2021 aims to be just the same, with games and events planned to fill an entire long weekend away.

This year, each attendee will have the opportunity to take part in a series of games and challenges, as well as workshops, discussion groups and t-shirt screen printing to make your very own keepsake.

Camping is a great way to build rapport between members with group activities and adventures. The community spirit is always alive and thriving at camp, with everyone pitching in and taking part.

Away from the stresses of everyday life, relaxation and letting go come naturally and pup headspace is easy to find.

Arroo and good afternoon everyone,

I hope you all have had a pawsome weekend and got to enjoy some of this beautiful weather across Queensland we are experiencing. It was so wonderful to catch up with a few Pups and Handlers down at Burger Urge, along Southbank. Once we had all had full bellies we set out across South Brisbane, leaving southbank and heading to Eagle Street Pier.

With many curious and kind folks along the way interacting with us and often hearing “who let the dogs out?” to the barks of the Q-PAH pack guided by Pup Tek and guarding the rear with Handler Deefa. I hope all those that got an opportunity to attend the walk enjoyed their afternoon as much as I did.

Green Paws Update

Hi everyone, Zeke here with the update of Green Paws as of July 2021. It's great to see that we have a bunch of people entering in to Green Paws, we have recycled so far this year 10,164 items. This is a staggering amount that has blown last years total year out of the water. So far Scott is in the lead with over 5,000 items recycled.

What does this mean? Well, it means that we have recycled approximately 145Kg of items. All this goes back into beverage bottles and cans, aluminium wrapping, toys, roads, car parts and much more - but more importantly not into landfill.

If you would like to donate some 10c recyclables all you need to do is wash out the 10c bottle or can, place them in a bag, and I can pick them up if you like or you take them to a recycling centre. Once you have received the cash, you can either EFT it into our bank account or bring it to a QPAH hosted event and give the cash and receipt to the Treasurer. Your name will then go on the website, along with the amount you have donated thus far.

What's in it for yourself you ask? Well for every 500 items you get a free entry to a mosh ie, target hit 500, 1000, 1500. When you hit 2000 items you will gain a free entry to the Pupmas event that QPAH holds at the end of the year.

I would love to see us hit 20,000 items recycles by Pupmas as a collective. At Pupmas, I will present our best collector of the year with a little reward. Last year we saw our President at the time Pup Skout take the award, who also issued the challenge that if someone could beat 3,000 items he would also donate $300 to the club - this challenge appears to have caught on this year.

The money raised goes towards events and overheads to keep the club running and has previously helped out a lot during the COVID times that we are going through.

I really look forward to seeing how this year pans out for us all and how close to the 20k item recycled target we hit. If you would like more information you can visit our Green Paws page or get in contact with me either on our website or find me on Facebook.

June 12th BBQ and Games

We would like to give a big thanks to all the pups and handlers who came out to join us at the BBQ and Games day at New Farm Park. It was awesome to see the big turnout on such a nice relaxing sunny day.

Was really heartwarming to see everyone mingling and getting to know one another as we had quite a few new faces show up. We also want to give a big shout out to Handler Deefa, Scott, Pup Lief and Sir Tigs for cooking up a delicious portion of sausages to keep us all fed.

After food the pups and handlers had a lot of fun playing Tug of War, Cross Bones and Puppy Ring Toss. Thank you to Sir Tigs for supplying the prizes that were won in each of these events which just added to the excitement of the event.

Extra thanks goes to Pup DJ for being our photographer for the event, and capturing these moments.

Once again thank you all to everyone who turned up and for those who unfortunately couldn't make it this time, we do hope to see you at our next event!

Q-PAH Planning Day 2021

On 29 May 2021 the Q-PAH Management Committee met with a heap of dedicated volunteers to undertake a Planning Day.

The event was a great success with everyone sharing their vision of how to move our club forward.

Off the back of this meeting, a number of working groups have been established, policies started and a whole heap future events and resources are now in the pipeline.

It's going to be a very exciting year for our club, so stay tuned for more updates soon!

Q-PAH Holds Third Annual AGM

On 19 May 2021, Q-PAH held its third annual AGM at the Sportsman Hotel in Spring Hill.

The meeting saw record levels of attendance and a great amount of nominations for vacant positions on the Management Committee.

After a year on hiatus, the club elected a fresh Management Committee including some continuing, some returning and some new faces.

The new Management Committee is eager to get to work, getting events running again and growing the club so stay tuned for plenty of updates very soon!
